How to Participate in National Safety Month 2022

June 8, 2022
June is National Safety Month. Find out how to spread safety in your workplace with the National Safety Council throughout the month.

Every June, individuals and organizations from across the U.S. come together to raise awareness of the leading causes of workplace injuries and fatalities during National Safety Month.

What is National Safety Month?

National Safety Month was started by the National Safety Council in 1996 to further the council’s mission of spreading awareness of safety hazards and promoting safety in the workplace for industrial workers across the United States.

The month now brings individuals and organizations together annually to prevent workplace injuries and fatalities by reducing risks in the workplace, as well as in workers’ homes and communities.

Why is National Safety Month Important?

Every day workers around the nation work hard in across a variety of industries. These jobs help our country stay productive, happy, healthy, and so much more, but are not always without risks to the workers who complete them.

National Safety Month provides employees and their employers a time to reflect on their working conditions, raise awareness of occupational risks, and encourage safer workplace practices.

Practicing Workplace Safety Every Month

National Safety Month raises awareness of workplace safety hazards and the ways employees can be kept safe on the job. But safety in the workplace should be a priority every month of the year.

As a High-Visibility Safety Apparel (HVSA) company, Kishigo works hard to keep workers safe by making sure they stay seen on site, greatly reducing the risks of workplace hazards.

Though wearing HVSA is often a requirement for those who work alongside machinery or in low-visibility conditions, taking a moment to ensure all HVSA is the right class and in good condition is an extremely effective way for workers to ensure safety in the workplace.

Staying seen on site not only protects workers in construction zones or other work sites, but also the people around them. Plus, HVSA can indicate who belongs in what areas of the worksite, ensuring everyone is kept safe and accounted for.

Wearing the proper gear and following the safety tips outlined by National Safety Month such as improving workplace ergonomics, reducing fall risks, or reducing workplace impairments, can go a long way in ensuring the safety and productivity of your team.
